The Lions
Today will be a quick write about my continued spiritual growth as I get closer to God everyday. I prayed last night for God to give me direction, grace and mercy all the days of my life and as I ended, I asked if he had a specific message for me to send it. Well, let me tell you that God is good, he is the greatest, he is the undefeated champion of all time. I had been struggling with some health issues lately and have been really seeking God's word by reading the bible, researching, reading other blogs and praying. All this as a way to gain a more direct connection to God and move forward with his plans in our lives.
After asking for God to send me a message I dreamed about the Lion and a Shepard. In the lion dream I saw two lions walking with each other like a pack would do. They kept their distance and walked near each other growling and grumbling as if they were seeking a meal. I was watching them in the lion's den when suddenly someone threw a large piece of raw meat over my head and into the den.
As soon as the meat hit the ground, both of them went for it with a ferocity that was breathtaking and scary. They both wanted to grab that meat and consume it, instantly forgetting about the needs or wants of the other. They rolled, bit, tumbled, rumbled, growled and fought for that meat and as they did one of them was on top and winning, but the other suddenly flipped his opponent off and attacked.
Grabbing it by the neck and holding it down, but not trying to kill it. The lion that took control was different looking from the other. It was colorful with purple and white here and there in its fur. The other was a regular looking lion, but had a face of evil, one of deceit and meanness. The mean looking lion eventually surrendered and ran away with its tail tucked, looking back growling as it had been defeated and sent away by the good lion.
My interpretation of that dream was that there are two lions in all of us. We are that piece of raw meat and the lions were good (God) and bad (the devil). Both of them are constantly seeking us with God looking for us to connect to him and flourish in life as a loving, caring, kind and compassionate human being. While the devil is seeking to disrupt our lives with sin, despair and transgression. As we seek God the devil will do whatever he can to disrupt that and get in the way.
However, that attempt is futile if we love God and have accepted that he is our maker, our guide and our way to an awesome life. If we choose the bad lion, that piece of meat will be devoured by the devil and will feed his appetite for destruction and destroy your life.
1st Peter 5:8, Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Daniel 6:16, Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king declared to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!” And a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his lords, that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel. Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; no diversions were brought to him, and sleep fled from him. Then, at break of day, the king arose and went in haste to the den of lions. As he came near to the den where Daniel was, he cried out in a tone of anguish. The king declared to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
1- Which lion will you feed?
2- Be consistent in prayer and seek God first in all, for the devil is watching and always waiting to pounce.
God Bless!
