Today I was reading and the focus of todays message is living an abundant life. Lets look at what abundance means and the best definition I liked is to live a life that is exceedingly high, beyond measure, and to attain more than typical results. The bible tells us that abundance is something God wants us to have in our life here on earth and in heaven. Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). I believe that this message is stating that he wants you to fulfill your God-given purpose and walk with him as you go through life. Many people confuse this abundance as having things and living a lifestyle with fancy cars, big houses, dream vacations and having lots of money in the bank. Those "things" are an abundance that many people have on earth. However, the bible tells us that prioritizing these things (1st Corinthians 1:26-29) are not Gods priority.
Our abundance is the love, grace, mercy and forgiveness of Jesus in our lives and Gods ever present longing for us to be one with him. Do we gain anything by having all the things we want on earth if we do not have a relationship with God. Seeking these things is not a sin or against Gods laws, however, we must seek him first before seeking these other things as we need his blessing and support as we work to attain abundance in life and more importantly the afterlife. Below are some tips to help us all live an abundant life here on earth and after we pass to the great beyond.
1- Have an attitude of attaining abundance in Christ and life. Seeking God first will allow you to focus on abundance that helps other people.
2- Be grateful for the things you have already and the gifts bestowed upon you from God. Just as it is given, it can be taken away.
3- Start your day out the right way with a prayer of thanks and ask God for his leadership and guidance in your life as you seek heavenly abundance. Focusing on God and his help will help you attain more abundance here on earth.
4- Build upon your strengths as you work to attain your abundance. Utilize your skills, education, experience and background to go after the things you seek. Keeping God as a focal point to grow your wisdom and knowledge of heavens abundance as you go.
5- Enjoy the blessings you get. Live your life as an example for others so that they do not envy you, but seek to know what you know about abundance.
Matthew 6:33, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
2nd Corinthians 9:8, And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
God Bless!
